About
My major expertise is in marine geology and geophysics, and I mainly focus on characterization of surface and subsurface systems that have important implications for resource exploration, subsea geohazards, contemporary and past climate change, particularly focusing on gas hydrate in sedimentary depositional systems. I use seismic, well data, oceanographic data and modeling to study these systems in the Arctic and low-latitude regions. Also, I love scientific programming and developing various apps for geoscience!
Currently, I am a research scientist with the Spanish Research Council, Andalusian Earth Sciences Institute. I was born and raised in Saint-Petersburg, where I graduated from Saint-Petersburg State University and started my career in geoscience in VNIIOkeangeologia. In 2016, I completed my PhD thesis in the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø – a beautiful town in the Arctic. Before moving to Spain, I spent 7 exciting years in the USA: first, at the Ohio State University and then at the University of Texas at Austin.
